Asana, a strong and hardworking woman who dedicated her life to ensuring her children had a safe upbringing. Her values, tenacity, love and commitment inspire us in everything we do.

Today, Asana Shea is a family-run business with deep roots in Ghana. Asana’s sister (Memuna) runs the business there and works together with a team of eight incredible women. They produce premium shea butter using traditional methods passed down through generations, ensuring the highest quality and purity in each product.

 

By supporting Asana Shea, you are helping to empower women in Ghana, provide them with a sustainable livelihood and preserve a genuine craft.

Each product carries the legacy of my mother’s care, the strength of the women who produce it and the intention to provide nourishment and well-being to people all over the world.

Unrefined shea butter is an incredibly powerful product that possesses amazing properties. Shea is a solid fat with a white or yellowish tint that melts easily on the skin without leaving a sticky or oily feeling. It is naturally rich in saturated fatty acids, has a high content of vitamins A and E, which act as powerful antioxidants. Shea butter is particularly effective for softening dry areas on the body, on the face and for caring for both hair and scalp and other skin conditions.

For a softer texture, you can easily mix it with an oil or heat it gently. At temperatures above 35 degrees, shea butter becomes liquid, making it perfect to combine with other oils to create your own body butter.

Shea butter is also food grade and has been traditionally used as a cooking fat in Africa for generations. Its nutritious content makes it a versatile choice, both in skincare and cooking.
