FAQ

1. Why unrefined shea butter?

Unrefined shea butter retains all its natural vitamins and fatty acids, melting into skin without leaving a greasy feel. It nourishes, protects, and supports the skin barrier, making it ideal for dry, sensitive, or acne-prone skin.

2. Can shea butter cause allergies?

Shea allergies are extremely rare. Most reactions are mild and usually related to nuts in people with severe nut allergies. We recommend doing a small patch test before first use if you have known nut sensitivities.

3. What skin types can use it?

All skin types! From very dry to sensitive or acne-prone skin, Asana Shea works gently yet effectively to calm, moisturize, and restore balance.

4. Can I use it on my face and body?

Yes! It’s versatile enough for face, hands, elbows, knees, lips, and even hair and scalp care. A little goes a long way.

5. How should I use it?

Apply a small amount to clean skin. For extra hydration, use on damp skin after a shower. You can warm it in your hands or mix it with oils for a customized body butter.

6. Is it safe for sensitive skin?

Absolutely. No additives, preservatives, or fragrances are used—just pure, unrefined shea butter. It’s safe for everyday use on sensitive areas.

7. Is this safe for children?

Our unrefined shea butter contains only one ingredient and is free from fragrance and additives, making it gentle and suitable for most children’s skin.
As with any skincare product, we recommend doing a small patch test first. If your child has severe skin conditions or ongoing concerns, consult a healthcare professional before use.

8. Where does the shea come from?

All our shea butter is sourced from a women’s cooperative in Ghana. By choosing Asana Shea, you support sustainable livelihoods and preserve traditional handcrafting methods.

9. How is it different from other shea butter products?

Many products contain fillers, preservatives, or are overprocessed. Our shea butter is completely pure, preserving its natural nutrients and skin-healing properties. Less is more.

10. Can I use it for my hair?

Yes! It nourishes dry scalp, smooths frizz, and adds natural shine. It works as a gentle, natural alternative to heavy conditioners or styling products.

11. How do I store it?

Keep in a cool, dry place. It softens at body temperature and becomes liquid above 35°C, but this doesn’t affect quality.

12. Can I mix it with other oils?

Yes! Many of our customers combine shea butter with oils like jojoba or almond to create custom body butters, scrubs, or hair treatments.

13. Why should I choose Asana Shea over other brands?

Because we focus on purity, care, and impact. Every jar carries the love of my mother, the expertise I’ve gained as a nurse, and the skill of Ghanaian women who handcraft each batch. Your skin benefits, and so do the women behind it.
